Dominic Thurgood is a composer and sound designer, and founder of The EMD, an acousmatic, systemic and electro music organisation. With a background in music, music technology and physics, he holds first class honours in music from the University of York, where he studied composition under Roger Marsh, Ambrose Field and Bill Brookes.
Dominic's theatre work includes sound design for Identity Theatre Company's Torn (Arcola Theatre), Doublethink Theatre's The Lady's Not for Burning (Finborough Theatre), Weaver Hughes Ensemble/5065 Lift/Lifeboat Theatre/Fish Production's Fanny and Faggot (Finborough Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe & The English Speaking Theatre of Bruges) and Taking the Blood of Butterflies, also with the Weaver Hughes Ensemble (Oval House Theatre).
Dominic also works as an audio engineer and editor. Recent projects include Past Masters, a series of podcasts for the National Archives and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology's audio-guide Secrets of the Petrie Collection.
Recent compositional work includes Én Skikk, Én Sorg (for small ensemble), 'architectural acousmatic' album FP/Arc Halv (under his Leftblank pseudonymn) and the forthcoming audio-visual DVD Turnstile with Andrew Ormerod and Jack Sullivan.
